I first came across the two books that you see parts of here, in a bookstore in Burbank.
It was an odd bookstore where you'd find all kinda nice, cheap, strange books... a Haitian grammar... William Burroughs books... a book on Hebrew calligraphy... a book on hydroponics... it paid to wander the stacks.
One day I found two very thin volumes, odd-sized (about eight inches by five), and fitted in precisely-fit covers made of thick hard plastic of a kind that mercifully hasn't been made in decades. On the covers: one was a goblet on a garish green goblet, above, and was called Fundamental Group Outline Fourth Class. The other had the same goblet, and was the Fifth class. No author. On the back, there was this strange, oddly vaginally-suggestive logo:
I was totally boggled. I'd never seen anything this bizzare in my life; and I'm from Los Ángeles.
